Pressure Treated Slow Grown Spruce. 10 Years on Pressure Treated Timber against Rot and Insect Infestation. Heavy Duty Framing and Walls, and 12mm Tongue & Groove Roof and Floor Boards. Say goodbye to flimsy sheds and embrace the pinnacle of strength and durability with our Overlord Modular Sheds.
Our robust 28mm x 35mm framework, provides a solid foundation for our strong and durable 12mm thick tongue and groove walls. Our walls are carefully crafted using 12mm cladding, helping to prevent unsightly gaps caused by expanding and contracting with the seasons. The cladding allows water to easily run off the shed due to its curves and channels, helping to protect your shed from water damage.
So you can relax in the knowledge that it will take far more than a gentle breeze and a light drizzle to knock this sturdy shed down. Our modular sheds come with pressure treated floor bearers and 12mm slow-grown spruce tongue & groove roof and floor boards as standard. It is the perfect material for the job, especially when comparing to cheaper pine or OSB boards found on the market. The tongue & groove boards easily slot together, creating a sturdy surface with an attractive appearance. Some competitors use cheaper 8mm OSB roof and floor. These are less resistant to water and can crumble over time. Whereas, tongue and groove boards are known for their strength and durability. We only use full lengths of timber in our garden products. We don't glue separate offcut pieces together with finger joints. Not only are they stronger, but they look much better too. Other companies are happy to provide you with rough offcuts, mixed timber and finger jointed timber, creating an odd-looking weak garden building with an off-putting appearance.
Double Doors with Secure Hinges and Locking System. Our Overlord Modular Sheds are equipped with double doors to ensure easy access, allowing you to effortlessly store and retrieve your garden tools and equipment. Your security is of the utmost importance to us. To make sure you have peace of mind we provide you with secure hinges, and a secure locking system.
Our sheds feature zinc-plated high-security hinges. Quite simply the zinc plating prolongs the lifetime of the hinges by protecting the metal underneath from rain which causes rust. What makes our hinges secure? Well, not only do the hinges have to be screwed on, but also bolted into the thick timbers which make up the door frame and door. Bolting the hinges into the framework makes it harder for intruders to unscrew the doors and steal your belongings.
With a lock and key supplied as standard, you can securely lock away your garden tools and equipment. For additional security we also supply shoot bolts, making it more difficult for someone to force the door open. Adding to the overall stability of the door, the shoot bolts reduce the likelihood of it being kicked in or pried open. We use 4mm thick toughened glass, not Perspex or Styrene which can scratch easily and cloud up over time. This is also thicker and less likely to break when hit with the neighbour's pesky football compared to the industry standard of 3mm horticultural glass. To help keep your shed's contents safe, we combine strong 4mm Toughened Glass with Internal Window Beading, which helps prevent the glass from being removed from the outside. Whilst this Anti-Theft technology doesn't make your shed an impenetrable fortress, it does certainly make it much more difficult for any would-be thief to steal your precious garden equipment. This wooden garden shed is fully pressure treated as standard. We take the pre-cut lengths of timber and place them in a large pressure treatment tank, where the timbers are impregnated with a non-toxic preservative. We add a colourant during this process, giving the timber a rich brown colour.
By pressure treating the timber, we can offer a genuine 10-year guarantee against rot and insect infestation. We only suggest that you apply a good quality water repellent to prolong the longevity of the timber.
Slow Grown Spruce, Not Cheap Pine. Unlike our competitors, we only use high-quality spruce timber on our wooden products rather than cheap pine or mixed timber. Why do we use slow grown spruce rather than the much cheaper knotty pine alternatives?
Spruce is considered more stable as it expands and contracts less than pine. This stability means that the spruce timbers in our garden buildings minimise splits from appearing as the timber changes along with the weather. We responsibly source all our timber, where it grows slowly in the cold northern regions. We all know the old adage of counting the rings to see how old a tree is, well our timber grows slower and takes longer to get to size meaning it has more rings in it. This means it has a tighter grain, and each ring helps prevent cracks and shakes from appearing in the densely packed timber. Our wooden garden buildings and climbing frames really are built to last therefore we use only the highest quality, slow-grown spruce. Spruce is much more resilient to warps and splits compared to its cheaper alternative pine.
Being a whitewood, it doesn't discolour anywhere near as much as pine so it is also much more aesthetically pleasing for a garden structure. Considered more stable, less knotty and resinous than pine, spruce will also produce a lot less sap. It is also less dense meaning it is not as susceptible to mould and rot. All of the timber components of this Shed have been fully pressure treated to ensure it lasts. Many other companies simply dip treat their timber. We offer a genuine 10 Year Guarantee on pressure treated timber against rot and insect infestation. We do not offer installation. All our garden buildings have been designed for the DIY market and supplied with full pictorial instructions. Despite the care we take in selecting the very best Timber available, it can still be unpredictable as its very nature is to be porous and swell up when it gets wet.
Any wooden product will do this throughout its life, but there are a few things you can do to help limit this movement. We would recommend that you use an appropriate water repellent treatment.
This helps minimise the amount of moisture that the timber can absorb and thus minimises the risk of any major movement. (Please note: water repellent treatment is not the same as pressure treatment). Keep your timber building ventilated and to allow any moisture to evaporate.
This is especially important if you plan to cover up your walls or floorboards with something (double-check with an expert, that the material is suitable to do so), as moisture can become trapped between layers of non-breathable materials, leading to timber becoming rotten. Whether you opt to build your product yourself, do not be afraid to tighten the odd bolt here and there. Your product is a long-term investment, so it is only right to give it some love and care from time to time.
Make sure that it is properly treated before the rainy months. For your ease and convenience, we include all the screws, bolts, nails, and other fixing needed to put together your garden building.
There is no need to worry about what sort of bolts or size of nails you'll need. We include all the right fixings for the job as standard. We recommend a flat, level, square concrete base with an allowance of at least 100mm on each side. A 4m by 3m building would have a base of 4.2m by 3.2m. The slow-grown spruce timber used for this shed is pressure treated.
This is an intensive treatment process which gives far higher-quality and longer-lasting results than dip-treatment. Unlike others on the market, even the framework is pressure treated to ensure it lasts. All our pressure treated timber will last against fungal decay and insect infestation for approximately 10 years or longer. Our model ranges come in different sizes you can choose from. This allows us to ensure consistent quality of our products and precise cuts made by our machines. Due to the unique design of a Dunster House product, in vast majority cases our garden buildings can be installed without the need for planning permission.
